I guess the reason my last post was in November demonstrates that the Christmas period is a difficult time for many whether it’s because you have too many commitments; friends and family to spend time with for some healthy, unwind time or whether it is because you have opted to work harder to make sure your bills get paid and your family get presents. Hopefully, though, there is time for reflection especially as we come into the New Year and consider whether we could make some changes; big or small, to improve our lives or the lives of others.
Those of us lucky enough to have a secure home and job can perhaps consider doing something for someone else. But with so many things going on in this world that tax our emotional space and mental well-being sometimes it can feel like a radical act of self-care to disconnect and tune out – the best way we can help others is to help ourselves. As my wife says, “put your own oxygen mask on first”.
If we can help – we will. Our oxygen masks are secure.
