No doubt there are many of us who have resolved to run more, eat less, moderate drink and be more organised, spend time with friends and family and “work hard and be nice to people”.
Now, I’m not saying don’t do that but have any of us resolved to sleep more?
I have.
Partly because my wife (who many of you have met in her role as chief administrator) bought me a Fitbit. This is a wearable device that monitors heart rate and steps and calculates your relative fitness. However, this isn’t the bit that interests me.
It also gives you a “sleep score” – a percentage of how well you sleep. I’ve not managed over 85% but I will.
Why, I hear you cry, are you writing this?
Because sleep is essential to recovery from pain. We still don’t fully understand sleep but we do know that those in pain sleep less and those who sleep less experience pain more.
At Wotton Health and Healing we don’t just offer physio, whose role in injury and exercise is well understood. But we offer professional massage and acupuncture.
If you’re struggling with your sleep the book a late session and clear your evening socials.
You’ll definitely improve your sleep score.
